Students practice using present progressive sentences and reviewing

- Decide on the competitive game – Jeopardy, Attack 25, PacMan, Hurricane, Castle, etc.
- Divide the class into groups. Most JHS classes already have pre-arranged groups with a leader for each group. Give each group 1-2 picture worksheet. To prevent one student from answering all the questions and/or slackers, decide on an order to speak among the groups. It could be easy to have the leader of the group be the first to answer and go counter-clockwise.
- Teacher will read each question slowly and student will answer the question. For example, ALT asks, “Who is washing his face?” Students will look at their worksheet and will know that the answer is A, therefore the first student to raise his/her hand and answers, “Mark is washing his face” gets a point for the group.
- The group with the most points wins the game.
- For higher level class, consider deleting the sentences on the worksheet to encourage students to think of their own answers.
- Before starting the game, go over the answers with students to make sure students can read and understand the sentences, if necessary.
