I'm Canadian so I generally do a Canada quiz in my first or second lesson with students in junior high and elementary school.
I've included the three I mostly use. One is a straight forward three choice quiz with a few extra pictures to add detail. Another is set up as a tour of Canada. I used to use it in elementary school when they'd do the directions lesson. The third is a phonics quiz. It shows pictures of places and things in Canada with a missing letter. The students listen to the ALT pronounce the word and try to guess what the missing letter is.
If you are going to use one of these please go through it on your own a couple of times so you're familiar with the format.
If it is my first class I introduce myself and give a short speach about myself using pictures or a slideshow. Then tell the class we're doing a quiz and have the students make groups and pick their order. Begin the presentation and with each question let it group picture their answer and bring it to the teachers. Record their answers on the board and after each team has given an answer then do the answer check and move on.
