GO FISH

Great flexible card game

Best played in groups of four. Three or five are also okay.

Shuffle the deck and deal out five cards each then put the remaining cards in the center.

Check cards to see if you have any pairs. Remove and collect those.

Decide who goes first. That person will pick one other player and asks a question based on what of the cards in his hand. If the other player has that same card they answer 'Yes' and give them their card. The played adds that pair to their collection. If the answer is 'No' then they take a card from the deck and then it is the next players turn. Note you can ask any player the question. It doesn't have to be the player next to you.

The game continues until all the cards have been used. Then everyone counts how many pairs they have collected. The player with the most is the winner.

It takes time to print out and laminate all the cards but it is worth the time. My cards are in black and white because my schools don't love color printing. Each card has a number 1 in the top corner. After I print one set I change all the numbers to 2 and then print the next set. This way each set has a different number. I usually make about 9 sets. The number is so that it is easy to organize the cards when elastic bands break and they get mixed up.

I have numerous versions of go fish and I will gradually post them here. The Simple Verbs one a mainly intended for 1st grade simple verb questions although it can be used for many things. The 'Have a dog' questions may be a bit odd in some cases.
