Unusual Interview Questions

Students ask each other unusual questions to spur conversation. Aimed at adult students.

I made this activity for an English conversation class for adults. We'd covered a textbook chapter about making conversation and asking about other people, so I made this as a prompt for further questions.

Ask the students to get into pairs. There are two similar pages but they both have slightly different questions, so I give each partner a different paper to keep the conversation from feeling too stale or predictable. They can write their partner's responses if they like, or just continue talking. The goal is to get them talking about their experiences and thoughts.

You can adapt it to different levels by altering the questions, although I think it would work best with students who are eager to practice conversation.
